McRae Point Provincial Park – Ramara, ON
Our second trip took us to Ramara, Ontario to McRae Point Provincial Park. The Park is just outside of Orillia on the on the shores of Lake Simcoe.
“Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
While we were very excited to be heading out on our second trip, the weather was not quite a nice as our first trip. Cooler air made it perfect to sit around the campfire but the rain, made our campfires short and our campsite swampy.

Despite the weather we choose to still enjoy our weekend and headed out on several walks along the beautiful water side trail. There is something to be said for listening to the water that feeds my soul and relaxes my mind. We also took several walks along the two camp areas to see what the other sites were like. McRae Point is not one of the largest Provincial Parks but still has a good number of sites with great space. The water and air were a wee bit chilly for us to consider going swimming but the Geese seemed to be enjoying the beach area. We spent one afternoon in Orillia when the rain kept us from getting our steps in but it was so close that we didn’t mind. Also close if you are a gambler or want to see a show is Casino Rama, only about 15mins away.
All in all we had a great weekend and even were able to chat with a few of the other campers at the Park. As we packed up to leave that same sadness we had on our first trip was there. Back to our working lives and dream about our next destination.
