Our adventures in a blog
Welcome to Our Current Destination!

Our Journey Begins…
When it comes to vacations, not much beats hitting the open road in an RV. Early on in dating, Steve and I talked about a dream we had of living life on the road in the comfort of an RV and making memories across the Country. A shared dream that is about to take to the open road this year!
Why an RV?
We chose an RV for a few reasons. First, it means embracing freedom and flexibility to explore National Parks, seaside escapes, and mountain ranges in our own cozy home on wheels, complete with a kitchen and bathroom.
It offers the perfect combination of adventure and comfort to explore new places, share experiences, such as stargazing on a clear night that could turn into heart felt conversations that deepen our connection to each other the world around us. These memories together will last us a lifetime. Whether our kids decide to visit us on occasion, or we adventure on our own, our next destination awaits us.

Which RV to Buy?
Buying an RV opens a door to countless adventures. It can drastically change how you travel while bringing home away from home feelings. Keeping your priorities straight when purchasing an RV means tackling this process smoothly and with research.
There are a variety of things to think about and consider when purchasing your home on wheels. So, lets talk about how we came to our decision to give you an idea of what we thought about and did before making our big purchase.
With so many options on the market, Steve decided to surprise me with a trip to Sicard’s RV in Smithville, Ontario. While there we walked through drivable RV’s, Motorcoaches, Trailers, and Toy Haulers. In each we looked at what they offered, what we liked, what we didn’t like, and how it would fit in our life and travel plans. This gave us a lot of things to think about and talk about. Next, we visited a couple RV shows to look at other brands and compare.
Because we are research nuts, we also looked online and checked out reviews on several trailers. Initially we fell in love with Leisure Travel Vans Unity Rear Lounge model. We both researched it to death. We visited their website, checked out how they were made, what features we could get and what ones we wanted. Then we learned it was at that time an 18 month wait to get one. Not problem we decided to wait and go to a few more RV Shows and just be sure of our decision.

As you get to know Steve and myself through our adventures and blog, we are dreamers, and it’s fantastic but dreams get put on hold or change.
We began to think about the amount of time we would be spending on the road. Steve and I are in our mid fifties, so we still have jobs to go. This limits the amount of time we will get to travel. So, we decided to wait to make the big purchase of the drivable RV.
This of course led to new discussions, research, and touring through travel trailers. We decided a small travel trailer and truck would make more sense for our weekend warrior like getaways.
We narrowed it down to a couple choices that fit our needs. Then read all the reviews we could find, discussed the layouts and space of each, and walked through each one. In the end a great deal came up on one we were looking at and we are now the excited owners of a 2024 Jayco Featherlite 23RK. Huge shout out to Sicards RV as they were super helpful and very Patient with us and all our visits. We appreciated their expertise in helping guide us to our decision. Our next adventure…buying a truck!
In summary, research, budget wisely, and reach out for advice. Eventually, you’ll be cruising to your first destination and who knows what memories you’ll create? Enjoy the journey!

Off we go…
If you’re considering RVing, go for it! There’s nothing quite like the thrill of exploring the great outdoors while creating lasting memories with your loved one. The joy of exploration and new experiences await Steve and I. But it will be even sweeter by sharing it with all of you. Now if the warmer weather would get here, we could get out of our Current Destination and onto the adventures of our next!
