There was a notification.

Should I read it? I had considered removing my dating profile and wasn’t sure I wanted to start one more conversation. For those of you who have tried online dating, you likely can understand this feeling. But curiosity got the better of me and I am glad it did. From our first messages Steve and I hit it off. During the first text conversation he had mentioned he was going to Scotland/Ireland later that week. I remember saying to my daughter, well I won’t hear from him again. Thinking I was only going to talk to him likely for the week I decided to just be my usual goofy self rather than trying to impress him. We had such a fun text banter over the week and to my surprise he continued to text me while away. It was such a great way of getting to know him and it was like I was experiencing the trip too.

On the day Steve was to fly home he asked if he could call me when he made it home. To this point we had only text through the dating app and after three weeks of texting it was time to move off the app. What made me definitely agree was a text he sent, “I feel like we have started something really special”. The first time I heard his voice a calm came over me. After that first phone conversation we talked every night. Due to our work schedules, the distance between our homes, and a half marathon I was running, we didn’t met until 6 weeks after our initial hello. Good thing neither of us were in a hurry. It’s a strange feeling when you have talked to someone that long and feel like you really know them but have never seen them face to face. We met face to face for the first time on September 30th, 2023 and it was more than we both could have imagined.

From there we began taking turns every other weekend driving to each others place. We talked for hours each night discovering we had many share dreams and goals for our futures. We both wanted to travel and see the world but also travel in an RV.

On one of our weekends, Steve surprised me and took me to Sicard’s RV in Smithville Ontario. We spent hours walking through almost everything on their lot. We sat in several and discussed what we liked, what we didn’t, and how we saw our future together in it. We learned so much about each other and about what was important to us. Very exciting time.

We are both love to research things we are interested in and so began looking for our RV and travel destinations. Our dream began to grow along with our relationship. In September 2024 I made the move from my home town to Steve’s. While that seemed like a big plunge we jumped further in December realizing our dream and bought a travel trailer! And with that Our Current Destination began.

As Steve and I start out on the Journey together I want to offer this piece of advice… never give up on your dreams. They may not seem possible today but keep them in your sight because you never know when life is going to take you towards your next destination!
